Are "snowbirds" migratory too?

More bird-study today! Munchkin & I are a bit under the weather today so we tried to have a good science day through it all...she's on preschool vacation this week--good timing actually!
Today, the girls did beautiful tracings and sketches of their favorite birds--ones we saw in our yard. They also began "sculpey clay" sculptures of their favorite birds. Cupcake is making a woodpecker and Sweet Pea is creating a black-capped chickadee. Both birds are spending the night in a baking dish, to be finished tomorrow perhaps.
Our Zoology reading today was focused on migration, so we had a good chuckle discussing how some people we know are migratory too! Their grandparents are "Snowbirds" so after making a map of a migratory bird of their choice (loons & swans), we made a map of our favorite snowbirds' path! We'll mail it so they know how to get back in the spring...Sweet Pea thought this was hilarious.
From top to bottom, our frontyard guests are a bluebird, male & female house finches, and a woodpecker.
